Scicluna in 45-minute meeting with prime minister

Prof. Edward Scicluna, the Labour party candidate for the European elections, was called to the Prime Minister’s office last week to discuss the eco-reduction schemes.
The unpublicised meeting took place after the economist told the Prime Minister during a GRTU conference held last week that the KPMG workings in the eco-reduction schemes were flawed.
Prime Minister Gonzi then invited Scicluna to a private meeting at Castille.
In the presence of the Prime Minister’s personal assistant Edgar Galea Curmi and assistant Leonard Callus, Scicluna explained the workings in the KPMG report outlining the erroneous calculations allegedly made by this reputable accounting and audit firm.
The 45-minute meeting led the Prime Minister to inform Scicluna that he would follow up the points raised in the meeting.
Investigations carried out by MaltaToday could not confirm whether the Prime Minister has instructed KPMG to review the eco-reduction scheme.
Scicluna had bemoaned the fact that the KPMG workings displayed major discrepancies and would lead to injustices with categories that needed attention.
