Legal schizophrenia

How refreshing and enlightening it was to read the interview of Judge Giovanni Bonello by Raphael Vassallo (2 November).
As I have maintained elsewhere, Article 91(3) of the Constitution of Malta, which stresses the independence of the Attorney General is, or could be, incompatible with the officer’s role as a prosecution officer, or that of the government’s legal advisor.
Is it likely that an advisor to government will recommend the granting of compensation to a person who was wrongly prosecuted, when he/she was part of the prosecution process?
Schizophrenic is an apt description of the situation.
