Jack and the Beanstalk at the Manoel Theatre starring Jo Zette

A truly traditional pantomime that’s full of beans!

This festive season, the Manoel Theatre will come alive once again with the Christmas Pantomime. This year’s production, JACK AND THE BEANSTALK, is produced, designed and directed by the Masquerade team, well-versed in the art of theatre having been directly responsible for many of the shows at the Manoel over the past years. Masquerade already has a history of producing a formidable body of work including comedies, musicals and classic plays.
Audiences will be overjoyed to see many of Malta’s best and brightest in the industry serving up a delightful treat as this pantomime is set to entertain even the most critical of theatre goers. The expert hands of those involved include Malcolm Galea who has skilfully penned this playful romp, Harry Borg and Ernest Camilleri both seasoned panto designers who will be responsible for the sets and costumes respectively, while the backstage team is led by stage manager Chris Mifsud. Add to this, choreography by Jes Sciberras, musical direction by Kevin Abela and the overall direction in the hands of anthony bezzina who has done over 14 pantos both as actor and director, and what you have is a recipe for one of the funniest and visually spectacular pantomimes ever seen. And if this wasn’t enough to get you to the theatre these holidays, Masquerade has engaged the notorious Jo Zette as the Dame, guaranteeing audiences to be laughing in the aisles.
Our hero Jack and a host of comic characters take us on a roller coaster ride of comedy, songs and loads of slapstick fun! Laugh and cheer at Jack as his fortunes turn from bad to worse. The Giant wants his rent and Jack is tricked into selling Daisy the crazy family cow for a handful of beans. Watch as the beans grow into an enormous beanstalk before your very eyes! Join in the fun and mayhem of an action-packed adventure as Jack and friends battle with the ferocious Giant. The sky’s the limit as they climb the beanstalk on a journey of make-believe and magic with adventures that will mystify and enchant you. Add to the mix an out-of-work fairy Godmother, and you have a story that will entertain the young and the young at heart. This pantomime has something for everyone – guaranteed for a good family night out.
JACK AND THE BEANSTALK will be running from Dec 22nd until Jan 11th. Tickets, priced the same as last year, range from €10-17 (matinees) and E 10-19 (Evenings) and are available from the Manoel Theatre.
