A Journey of Discovery

Matthew Kassar will be exhibiting a series of 55 paintings at the Auberge D’Italie, Merchant’s Street, Valletta. Open on Mondays to Fridays from 08:00 to 17:00 and Saturdays from 08:00 to 12:00.

Redprints

Alexandra Pace has recently restored a house in 68, St Lucy Street Valletta for the purpose of this photographic exhibition. These portraits and studies, which have never been shown before and have been specifically created for this launch exhibition, are on show in the various floors of No.68 Redprints. Opening Hours: 10:00 – 12:00 and 14:00 - 20:00.

Angels Fall First

A Diary of Obsessions

An exhibition of 22 works by John Busuttil Leaver at the Main Hall of St James Cavalier, showcasing work painted over the course of three to ten years, thus displaying an evolving aesthetic.

Out of the fire

Seven local female ceramic artists have brought together their work in a collective exhibition at Heritage Malta, Old University Buildings, Merchant Street, Valletta.
The group – Sue Mifsud, Julie Apap, Zell Osborne, Barbara Attard Pettett, Deborah Marmara, Talia Maggi and Rosella Schembri - will be exhibiting an extensive range of ceramic artwork using many of the different techniques and firing methods that this art form allows. Revolt.Destroy.Reform

A music night in celebration of independent media, featuring live performances from Hostile Hostage, Organized Disorder and Darren Jones with DJs Bob and Clement at Poxx Bar, Paceville from 22:00. Entrance is at €5 and includes a free drink.

Brikkuni

Cafe Brazil

FRiNGE! Productions presents Cafe Brazil, the annually anticipated concert which exposes passion and virtuosity in Brazilian music at MITP, St Christopher’s Street, Valletta from 20:30. This year’s line-up includes pandero extraordinaire Sergio Krakowsky, flutist Jocelyn Mienniel and guitarist Sandro Zerafa. Special guest for this concert is none other than Brazilian singer Catia Werneck, who performed in Malta last year and is one of the most prominent Brazilian singers in Paris at the moment. Botafogo will be presenting their own all-new repertoire in combination with a selection of sambas and bossa novas including original songs by Catia as well as Brazilian standards. Magic of Opera

Gillian Zammit (Soprano), David Sotgiu’(Tenor), joined by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (led by Marcelline Agius) and conducted by Paolo Ponziano Ciardi will be presenting operatic excerpts from Verdi, Puccini, Bellini, Donizetti, Weber, Rossini, Wolf-Ferrari and Massenet at the Manoel Theatre. Starts at 20:00. Ticket prices are at €10, €15, €20 and €25 (50% reduction on a limited number of tickets for students and senior citizens). Blasted

Vilified by the Daily Mail as a ‘disgusting feast of filth’ and revered by other critics as a masterpiece, Sarah Kane’s Blasted finally comes to St James Cavalier courtesy of Unifaun Theatre. Directed by maverick Californian director Dave Barton and featuring American pro Bryan Jennings in the main role, together with locals Jo Caruana and Andrew Galea. Swan Lake on Ice

Three thousand kilograms of ice will transform the stage at The Mediterranean Conference Centre into a grand and spectacular ice rink, for the first ever local performance of the world’s famous ‘Swan Lake on Ice’. Thirty five award winning Russian ice-ballet dancers from the The St Petersburg State Ballet (Russia) will perform this timeless classic ‘on ice’ for the very first time here in Malta.
