Four teens in motorcycle theft

The Police is holding four teenagers from Qormi, aged 14 to 16, under arrest in connection with investigations into the theft of motorcycles and the attempted burglary of a shop.
Police from the Marsaxlokk police station were on the beat yesterday at midnight when they noticed a young man on a motorcycle without his crash helmet.
As the police accosted him, he left the motorcycle in its place and escaped on foot. Nearby, three other young men who spotted the police also started making their escape.
The four men were later caught by the police in various streets in a search carried out between the police stations of Marsaxlokk and Birzebbuga and the Mobile Unit.
Investigations revealed that the motorcycle in question had been stolen, and that two other motorcycles used by the young men had also been stolen. A bag that had been thrown away by one of the fleeing thieves was found to have contained tools and a black scarf. Evidence of forced entry was also found on a door of a shop in Marsaxlokk.
