Let’s Celebrate

Malta celebrates its independence from British Sovereignty on 21st September year after year. However this is only a technicality, for today in reality we simply celebrate our Independence. We celebrate that unique quality that gives us an independent identity. It has gone for far too long without saying that this independence was inspired by Maltese independent politicians who, bearing the courage of their convictions, had often paid a personal price for their vision of an independent people, a vision that ultimately materialized. The Independence celebrations in Floriana should pay homage to their efforts, and recognize that the sacred ground beneath these festivities gives birthright to the ‘Independent politician’ and provides remembrance of all past, present and future electoral candidates running on an independent ticket, that this is our feast.
Sincerely
