NEWS | Wednesday, 02 July 2008 Vella Bonnici to contest MLP secretary-general post Economist Joe Vella Bonnici, a Labour candidate, confirmed yesterday he will be contesting the role of party secretary-general.
Vella Bonnici said the Labour leadership needed an “efficient and serious” administration, and said his experience would help in achieving this. “I have always left the door open to everybody in any office I’ve worked in, both in the public and private sector. The party belongs to the members and they must give it life. The local clubs and the party branches must become once again the machine that leads the party. The administration must offer its support and direction, rather than trying to do everything on its own,” Vella Bonnici said in a statement. He said the country’s democracy needed a strong Labour party that would be ready to govern. Any comments? |
