NEWS | Wednesday, 28 May 2008 4People – 50 cents, zero answers Sabrina Agius 4People, the company that until recently produced 4s popular TV series Gizelle, is refusing to comment on allegations that it accepted Lm0.50c from a number of individual applicants for the opportunity to take part in a TV show which has since come to an end.
“We prefer not to give any comments as we don’t see what relevance this can have for the general public,” Abigail Mallia, one of the company’s founding members, told MaltaToday. “Everyone is working on separate projects and the most important thing is that we focus on our individual projects. We don’t see what difference this Lm0.50 would make.” This newspaper is informed that during the Gizelle Open Day in March 2007, hundreds of people filled in a form and paid Lm0.50 (€1.16) for the opportunity to land a role in the popular One TV soap opera. But after the sudden and unexpected break-up of 4People, and with it the demise of the popular TV series, many are now asking what became of the money collected. 4People was founded in 2006 by Abigail Mallia, Rachel Cachia, Evelyn Saliba La Roza and Carlos DeBattista. The original team later grew to 10 members, including editors, writers, and a production and administration unit. Up until its break-up on 18 May, 4People also produced the docu-drama Passju and talk show Dopo, as well as offering video production, market consultancy and web design services. Any comments? |
