Bad Jazz
The MADC presents a provocative new comedy by Robert Farquhar - which satirises modern theatre and the eager young hopefuls desperate to become its new stars - at the MADC playhouse. Directed by Wesley Ellul, the cast includes Angelica Coppini, Graham Arnold, Keith Pavia, David Ellul Mercer, Maxine Calleja Urry and Chris Agius Burke. Medea
Du' Theatre Group presents a Maltese rendition - using Oliver Friggieri's translation - of the classic Euripides play at the MITP, St Christopher’s Street, Valletta. The cast includes Simone Spiteri, Franica Pulis, Kristjana Casha, Magda van Kuilenburg, Victoria Vella with Domenic Dimech as Jason. The actors are also accompanied by a live musical ensemble led by Tim Ellis, who is also the composer, along with Chris Cini Antoine Zammit and Gilbert Micallef. Performances start at 20:00. Gaulitana: A Festival of Music
Gozo’s Gaulitanus Choir has launched the second edition of its festival Gaulitana: A Festival of Music. A series of twelve concerts in various venues in Gozo will feature local and international artists/ensembles in a mixture of musical events ranging from the sacred to the folkloristic and from the pop to the classical, in which musical sounds are sometimes also juxtaposed with the flavours of the local cuisine. The festival is artistically directed by the choir’s founder-director, Colin Attard.

April 25
White Russian 5tet
The multinational jazz quintet, led by Sandro Zerafa, will be launching their self-titled album at Warehouse no. 8, a brand-new venue in Marsa. Their music is a fusion of his various influences which range from folk to free-jazz, Keith Jarrett to the Beatles, Ornette Coleman to Thelonious Monk. The White Russian CD will be sold on the night and will be available in all leading local music stores from the launch date onwards. DJ Danjeli will be keeping the mood alive after the band with a unique mix of jazz and electro.

Gordon Giltrap at Manoel Theatre
Veteran guitarist Gordon Giltrap, who has worked and collaborated with many great names from rock musicians including Brian May, Rick Wakeman, Midge Ure, Martin Taylor, Raymond Burley and Cliff Richard will be performing at the Manoel Theatre, 20:00, courtesy of Masquerade Theatre Company. An exhibition of sketches and paintings by George Scicluna at the Parliamentary Secreteriat for Tourism, Auberge D’Italie, Merchants Street, Valletta. The works selected will be a showcase of the artist’s gradual development.

Grazzi Malta
‘Grazzi Malta: An art exhibition with works by Olaug Vethal (1946-2007) whilst in Malta from 1988-2007’ features works of art and other artifacts that reveal the relationship of this artist with the Maltese people whom she loved to paint. It is taking place at the St James Cavalier Upper galleries. This is the first exhibition and publication following the artist’s death on February 24. This exhibition will reveal the stylistic changes in her art from the very first presence of the artist on the island till the very last stages of her life, during her illness. The influences of the Maltese culture, people, way of life and light are reminiscent in her works following comparisons to when she first arrived.

An exhibition of digital artwork by Ivan Saliba at 2_22, Valletta, entitled +=-. Saliba showcases seven detailed illustrations portraying momentary snapshots of magical actions. Glowing stardust, simulated texture and the power of light all form part of this abstract interaction.

Sculptor and painter Andrew Diacono is exhibiting at Gallery G, No 4, Sir Ugo Mifsud Street, Lija. The work on display is a mixture of paintings, reliefs, ceramics and mixed-media sculptures.
