Zminijietna calls on MEPA to revise local plans.

Zminijietna – Voice of the Left, an official member of MEPA’s nature group of NGO’s, calls on MEPA to seriously revise local plans to eliminate loopholes and discrepancies.
We believe that the local plans continue to serve as a smoke screen for the granting of permits in ‘outside development zone areas’(ODZ). It is shameful the MEPA board members are using these loopholes in local plans to favour development in ‘outside development zones areas’ (ODZ).
Recent cases were the development permits granted for development of the Qala belvedere and the extension of the Seabank Hotel in Ghadira.
Zminijietna is determined to continue to put pressure at MEPA for a revision of local plans so that ODZ areas are full protected from further development. Zminijietna urges environmental, social and political organisations to support its effort.
