Mintoff’s childhood home to make way for slum clearance
Labour MP Chris Agius has urged the authorities to protect the Cospicua home in which former Prime Minister Dom Mintoff was born and raised.
The house is scheduled for demolition in a slum clearance project, according to Agius. The project will make way for a new block of 56 apartments and garages.
Agius asked social policy minister John Dalli whether he felt the house should be salvaged and restored “as part of the life of a person who made history in our country.”
Dalli has requested the address and details on the historic value of the house.
