Two arrested after police haul 18,000 ecstasy pills

Two men have been arrested in connection with a haul of 18,000 ecstasy pills, found in a box hidden in a shrub close to the Luxol Grounds in Pembroke.
The drugs were discovered late on Monday night when police searched the area shortly after they intervened to stop two cars that sped into the open area, and tried to evade the police who were following them in unmarked cars.
As one driver was arrested when his car was blocked, the other managed to escape by ramming into their car. While police fired shots at the tyres, the driver managed to speed through but was arrested yesterday morning after a nation-wide manhunt.
While police forensic experts elevated the ecstasy pills from the scene, a Magisterial inquiry was initiated.
The two men are expected to be arraigned in court this morning to face charges on possession and trafficking in the drug.
