In last Sunday’s edition of MaltaToday, one could read a news story about Mario Galea’s vandalised official car. It revealed how official press releases are most of the time concocted to promote untruths. It is heartening to know that the Department of Information has stooped so low.
The story reported through an official government press release, was that Parliamentary Secretary Mario Galea’s official ministerial car had been vandalised. The insinuation clearly pointing to Labour thuggery. Graffiti with the letters ‘MLP’ scratched into the beautiful navy blue car paintwork.
The engraving blended well with the warped perception awarded to the citizens of Zejtun who have been unfairly described as the official representatives of Labour thuggery.
That was 23 years ago, when I had no white hairs and internet, and the mobile telephone did not exist, and I believed that Eddie Fenech Adami was the reincarnation of the Angel Gabriel.
But not all MLP thugs are villains, some of them like the late Ganni l-Pupa were embraced by Dr Fenech Adami himself. That is when ‘Ganni l-Pupa’ publicly reneged on his awful habits of beating Nationalists to a pulp. Ganni the good old Labourite thug who turned Nationalist saint, later died in a botched robbery attempt after falling from a roof.
Well back to Mario Galea and the wonderful story that some invisible Labour thug forced his key or whatever through the paint and scribbled ‘MLP’ into the paintwork. Well it turned out to be a big fat scam.
The Labour party even went as far as believing it and issuing a press release condemning the act.
Now, wonder of wonders, MaltaToday discovers that the police discover that the driver himself was the culprit behind the graffiti. But say nothing about it.
The driver, a very close associate of Mario Galea purposely lodged a false report to cover the fact that the car had been involved in a collision.
The driver by the way, was asked to leave his post by Mario Galea. But there was no official word about the incident until last Sunday. Mario Galea of course did not reply to the MaltaToday questions, but he did reply to the The Times stating what a good man his driver was.
Now why do good men carve ‘MLP’ into the paintwork!
I guess bad men do the opposite and do not carve ‘MLP’ into the paintwork.
And by the way the police will be prosecuting. But we know this only because MaltaToday investigated and asked questions.
Yet all this would not have reached the public domain, had it not been for MT.
Can you imagine how many things are happening behind our back and are being kept a secret. Would Gordon Pisani have informed us of the police revelation?
Would the police have informed us of their investigations?
My guess is NO!
Now back to Mario Galea.
Every time we have asked Mario Galea questions he has referred us to his bad personal saga and reneged on answering questions. But not The Times. When it comes to The Times his emotional distress suddenly disappears.
I will not go into his personal issues. They are personal and should remain so but some may not be so personal after all. It is a pity that when other people not connected to the administration and GONZIPN have personal issues they are not respected and left in peace. I could of course list a whole list of cases. Starting from rumour mongering and lies about people’s well being and financial status.
The thing is that I do not believe the story of Mario Galea’s driver and his false report and graffiti, I think that there is more than we should know or would like to know.
And police sources who have spoken to me, have told me that I have good reason to think otherwise.
Did you hear this? I have good reason to think otherwise.
This administration and its ministers have very much led themselves into a siege mentality that makes it more difficult for them to be see straight.
To many of them it is a do-or-die situation.
Which is why the story of the graffiti on the minister’s car was presented in such a way.
You see I find it very difficult to believe that Mario Galea’s driver stooped to such a low. In other words I do not believe that he even crashed the car. He is such a good bloody driver that he would have to be dead drunk to crash.
He is such a good man that he would be stark mad to take a penknife or a key and maliciously engrave ‘MLP’ on the car.
He is, and I will say this with a heavy heart and some responsibility, a man with tonnes of respect for Mario Galea and would do everything for Mario Galea.
He would take a bullet for Mario Galea. To be precise he would take an 1987 bullet.
And the centurions at the Office of the Prime Minister know this.
I do not understand why the story was not allowed to be posted to the press?
It is true Mario Galea has personal problems, but there is a past history which raises more questions than answers.
Some years back Galea came out with the story that he was ‘forced’ to drive into a tree by someone who was driving dangerously close and pushing him to the side of the kerb. After this incident he was afforded special protection by the police for some days, but let us face it I do not believe that Mario Galea was forced by anyone to the side of the kerb. That is his version and we are free to believe whether it was true or not.
The last time I crashed into a tree, I was as drunk as a posse of Liverpudlian supporters. I am sure it was not the case of bad driving but a simple miraculous motion of the tree into the centre of the road. But then I drink like a camel, I am sure Mario Galea does not have an affinity for drink like I do.
The episode behind the scribble on Mario Galea’s car is perhaps a reality check into the real world of politics. If that scribble had been posted during an election campaign it could have caused a wave of sympathy for Mario Galea and unnecessary angst between party supporters.
I do not believe that Mario Galea’s driver scribbled that graffiti.
I do not believe that Mario Galea driver’s first or second statement.
I do not believe that we have yet seen an end to this story.
And I do not believe that the Office of the Prime Minister and some of those centurions did not know what was happening.
So there you go. Now what next?
Can anyone pass me a scotch I am feeling queasy!
