Secretary-General saga

Allow me to refer to the article/interview appearing in another section of the local press ebtitled, ‘Labour president lied’- Jason Micallef, by journalist Christian Peregin (The Sunday Times, October 11, 2009).
In this item, the now demoted Malta Labour Party secretary general stated that party president Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi had ‘lied’ when – on October 6 2009, during the current affairs television programme ’Dissett’ – he, (Zrinzo Azzopardi), stated that it was ‘his choice not to contest for the secretary general post’ in January, 2010.
May I remind ‘The Sunday Times’ readers and the now removed secretary general himself that, on March 9, 2008 (exactly a day after the 2008 General Election), Jason Micallef stated to the local media that the official results, which had just been issued by the Electoral Commission, (awarding an electoral victory by a slight margin of vote to Nationalist Party), did not tally with his calculations since it was clear, (to himself), that the Malta Labour Party had just won the March 2008 General election.
It was later pointed out by Hon. Michael Falzon (then deputy Leader of the Malta Labour Party) that he (Micallef) did this only in order to save face ever though well-knowing that the Electoral Commission’s results and statistics were accurate and precise.
How’s that for a bare-faced lie?
