August 8
Dark by Design

A night of metal, punk, goth and more at Remedy Club, Paceville. Featuring DJs Oliver (Default), Lex (Luce), Clint (Mechanoid) , Frank, (Slit) and Viviana Fern. Doors open at 21:30. Entrance is free.

August 9
Iration

Reggae pool party at Ta Fra Ben, Qawra. Music provided by One Love Sound. Tickets at €5 from Juuls Bar, St Julians and €7 at the door.

Bonnie Prince Billy
Following the cancellation in May, the cult folk musician will be playing at the MITP Courtyard, Valletta at 19:00, supported by Bark Bark Disco. Tickets at €12 if bought prior to the performance (stagedivemalta@gmail.com), €15 at the door.

August 12 - 14
Legends of the 60s and 70s

Defining bands from the two decades will be performing near Fra Ben, Buggiba from 19:30. The Sweet and T.Rex will be performing on August 12, The Animals on August 13 and on August 14 Herman and Hermits will be performing with 60’s Legends (made up of members of The Kinks and The Hollies). Creamfields

The line up for Creamfields Malta 2009 which is going to be held on the August 15 at Gianpula Fields, limits of Rabat - has been announced. Featuring Markus Schulz, James Zabiela, Laidback Luke, Umek, Vitalic, Giuseppe Ottaviani and 16 Bit Lolitas.

Bridge Bar sessions

Fringe presents jazz nights at Bridge Bar, Victoria Gate, Valletta from 21:00. Featuring a selection of local and international artists playing a variety of genres including bebop, latin, fusion and bossa jazz, amongst others.

Exhibition of paintings by James Vella Clark at Art E. Gallery, Victoria, Gozo.

The Artist at Work

A selection of high quality studies, highlighting the stages in producing a painting, ranging from personal sketches to bozzetto`s for clients and patrons, on to scaled drawings, spanning over three centuries of artistic activity in Malta, from the 17th till the 20th century are being exhibited at the Contemporary Hall, National Museum of Fine Arts, South Street, Valletta. Open Monday to Sunday from 09:00 - 17:00 (Last Admission 16:30).

September 12 - October 25
The 3rd Malta-Cyprus Ceramics Exhibition

Collective exhibition by Maltese and Cypriot ceramists at the Upper Galleries of St James Cavalier.

BELLY DANCING

Until August 27
Tribal Belly Dance classes

Tribal Dance Malta is organising a 10-week belly dance course at Activezone Gym, Msida (next to Junior College). Each course consists of a one-hour class once a week. The Tuesday class starts at 19:30 (except for the first three weeks where it will start at 20:00) and the Thursday class starts at 21:00 each week. The fee for each course is €80. Availability is limited and booking recommended through tribaldancemalta@gmail.com.

The Censor Me!!! Art Cafe

A call for artists for an exhibition which is to coincide with the upcoming production Censor Me!!! (Banned from theatres near you). All artists are encouraged to forward any work related to the theme of censorship. All artforms are accepted and the number of entries per artist is open.
