MEP’s declarations under oath

The government is under pressure to change the electoral law, but to suit whom? The public?
Elected (and even some unelected) MEPs must think everybody is stupid, judging by the way they explain interpretations or the defects in the translation from English to Maltese of this electoral law.
Eliminate false oaths/declarations, eliminate Chapter 108 of the Criminal Code (if found guilty, liable to four months to one year imprisonment plus interdiction), eliminate a re-election and loss of EP seats... Solution? Enact/amend this law and make it retroactive to cover even the last general election!
It will not be a precedent as both parties in government implemented laws retroactively.
Result: elected candidates will be more than happy. Both leaders agree, ‘Together everything is possible’. You can fool all the people some of the time, but not all the people all the time. The percentage of abstainees in elections, (mostly PN ex-supporters) will definitely increase.
Think about it. It will qualify as the law of the year!
