The Malta Communications Authority recently published for consultation a proposed decision on the Universal Service Obligations related to Electronic Communications Services.
The objective of the universal service is to make available quality electronic communication services at just, reasonable, and affordable rates to everybody upon reasonable request. One of these services includes the provision of printed directories.
The Authority is inviting the general public and other interested parties to comment and submit feedback on the proposed decision, including on whether the distribution of a free printed directory should remain a universal service obligation and whether alternative solutions as described in the mentioned proposed decision would be a preferable option. For more information on the subject interested parties may refer to the Consultation Paper on the MCAs’ website: http://www.mca.org.mt/newsroom/openarticle.asp?id=722".
The consultation period runs until 30 June 2009.
