Arson in Qormi, mugging in St Julian’s

Police were alerted to an arson attack in the early hours of Tuesday morning on Tumas Fenech street in Qormi.
At around 1:50am, Police were called onto the scene where a tyre had been placed outside a residence, and set alight using lighter fluid. The fires were put under control by the time the police arrived, and nobody was injured in the incident.
Duty magistrate Lawrence Quintano ordered an inquiry into the matter.
In another separate incident, two hooded men mugged two women in Wilga Street in St Julian’s.
The hold-up happened at 5:10am, when two hooded individuals held the women, 33 from St Paul’s Bay and 24 from Qormi, at knifepoint. One of the women was assaulted and threatened with the knife. The muggers stole her handbag containing money, as well as documents and personal objects.
