Nadur carnival arrests - wasps, not butterflies

At a committee meeting held at the Beland Band Club, Zejtun, it has been unanimously decided to react strongly against the contents of the article written in your paper dated 11 March, 2009 entitled “Beland Butterflies, Catholic chaos theory and fractal sacking” by Harry Vassallo.
The ‘raison d’être’ behind the information given in the article is misleading, not true to facts and offends the dignity of our society, which is wholly disassociating itself from any acts of disrespect towards our religion and Jesus Christ during the Nadur Carnival.
Our society totally disagrees with what was written in this article, especially when our society is left to believe that “in a tragicomic chain of events, overenthusiastic partisans of the Beland Band Club acted as the blasphemous butterflies giving rise to a chain of events leading to the sacking of Patrick Attard”.

Harry Vassallo has gone to great lengths (11 March) to plead that his ex-colleage in Alternattiva Demokratika, Patrick Attard, be given back his job with the Malta Resources Authority.
I do not know if Mr Attard has revealed any fact which came to his knowledge as a result of his work, or if he had been warned of any previous misdemeanour, and as far as I am concerned, he could have his job back tomorrow, as long as he appreciates that he should not carry his anti-Catholic Church agenda, patently based on its teaching on homosexual activity which he supports, using time, funds and facilities provided by his employers.
Unfortunately, such an attitude as his is a hallmark of our liberal times where self-gratification accepts no bounds. Only those who hold different views should be bound by rules.
Mr Vassallo should not have been so apologetic towards those who created all this trouble through their crass behaviour. The perpetrators were wasps rather than butterflies, and they have done no favour to Zejtun by tarnishing its name once again.
