Not ‘bad education’, but harassment

The Ministry of Education refers to the letter ‘Bad Education’ (March 1), in which Mr Alfred Cauchi makes direct reference to the Prime Minister, to Minister Dolores Cristina, to the Principal Permanent Secretary Dr Godwin Grima, to our outgoing Permanent Secretary Mr Frans Borg and to the Ministry’s Director of Corporate Services, Mr Leonard Sacco.
Out of courtesy to Mr Cauchi, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports refrains from disclosing any details about this case. However, it is pertinent to point out that the gentleman has had innumerable meetings with officials from this Ministry and from the Office of the Prime Minister and has also indulged in an extensive correspondence over a long period of months.
Mr Cauchi is demanding an apology from Mr Sacco for disciplinary action taken, when, according to official statements, the latter, in his role as Director, acted correctly in accordance with the Public Service Management Code. Dr Grima and Mr Sacco have now referred the case to the Commissioner of Police on grounds of harassment. The Minister has also requested Mr Cauchi to refrain from communicating further with her on the same grounds.
