Reference is made to the item entitled “Curia breaches staff’s data protection” carried by MaltaToday on 9 March 2009.
The Curia administration would like to clarify that (i) it was never its intention to do anything not according to the Data Protection Act, (ii) no staff personal details had yet been communicated to Melita, and so the Curia cannot be charged that it has committed a breach of the data protection of its staff, and (iii) the suggested procedure is being reviewed according to the advice that has now been received from the Data Protection Commissioner.
In the meantime, the Curia administration reiterates what had already been stated to MaltaToday, that the Curia was not getting any commission from Melita for the latter’s acceptance of its suggestion to put together a deal favourable to the Curia staff.
