Thanks to PL MEP Louis Grech’s parliamentary question to European Commissioner Laszlo Kovaks, now we know that the VAT on vehicle registration is illegal and should be refunded.
Minister of Finance, Mr Tonio Fenech, abruptly tells us to open a court case, because according to him it’s not illegal. It seems that this “L’etat c’est moi” syndrome is being inherited, and is going down quite well with cabinet ministers, from Gonzi’s “I am the Prime Minister, I am the Government.”
All those who did in fact pay VAT should unite and take Mr Fenech’s advice. Yes, open a court case in big groups. I’m positive that MEP Louis Grech will assist if the need arises. Let’s all stand up to be counted before this syndrome gets out of hand.
