No more free water and electricity for yachters

Owners of yachts berthed on government pontoons will no longer be eligible for free energy and water on quays not serviced by energy meters.
A legal notice issued last week announced that the berthing fees for most yachts on pontoons will no longer include water and electricity charges – a factor that compounded the problem of high wastage by boaters used to consuming large quantities of running water and electricity while cleaning boats.
The notice also announced an annual water and electricity charge of €24 per running metre of the craft, on serviced quays and pontoons having no water and electricity meters.
The new rules also removed a 30% discount that was previously afforded on unserviced quays.
