Swieqi families left in the dark for 15 hours At least three Swieqi families were left without electricity for almost 15 hours yesterday as Enemalta failed to respond to their panic-stricken calls to get their energy restored.
Olga Chircop who lives in Swieqi Road said despite repeated calls to Enemalta Corporation, they were left in the dark all day until finally workers informed them they were going to repair the faults.
“It’s maddening, calling Enemalta for nothing, all day,” Ms Chircop said. “After about 15 hours they informed us that there was a new shift of workers and they were sending someone. Our freezers and fridges are leaking water, our meat and food is rotting and now only fit to be thrown in the dustbin. What the hell is going on?”
She said other neighbours were similarly left without electricity.
Attempts to get hold of Enemalta yesterday proved futile.
