Client not patient It is blatant hypocrisy manifested by Mary Ann Sant Fournier, the President of the Chamber of Pharmacists, when she claims that their association defends the interests of both its pharmacist’s members and the patients they serve (Layoffs in the pharmacy business, Sunday 21st December 2008). When I turn up at one of your pharmacies in order to purchase a prescribed or over-the-counter medicine, I do not want to be treated as a patient but a client. I happen to be my doctor’s patient, and not yours. The only manner my interests would be protected is by means of a fully liberalised market regulated by an independent body and not controlled by a group of interested parties.
