Swieqi bring-in site in disastrous state

I would like to draw your attention to the disgraceful state of the bring-in site in Triq il-Wiżna, Swieqi. A complete filth, a rubbish dump. Actually I don’t think any amount of words is enough to describe the bad state that this bring in site is kept in. Swieqi residents (and even outsiders) are putting everything/anything they want to get rid of; from complete bathrooms to broken bedrooms, boxes of empty bottles brought from bars/restaurants, bird cages, luggages, piles of clothes, computers, televisions and most of all mountains and mountains of garbage bags. Calling the local council is a complete waste of time. I email them very regularly and they always ignore my emails or those of other Swieqi residents. I have asked over and over again for the mayor to call me, but she or anyone else from the local council have never called. I normally also call the local council, but the site is then cleaned after three or four days and the tone of voice of the persons receiving the call makes one feel as though he’s annoying them, phoning there. I would appreciate that something is done as it’s a complete health hazard with huge rats and mice running around this site.
I would also like to point out that there is a sign saying that there is a CCTV camera, and anyone caught will be fined. But guess what? The camera was put up without any wiring attached and after a month or so it just vanished! When I called the council to ask, the reply was “iva tneħħiett dik, issa forsi inpoġġu oħra xi darba!”
To be quite honest all the people in Triq il-Wiżna, Triq it-Terz and Triq ir-Ratal feel very insulted by the way we are being treated by this council, being completely ignored and without knowing who to turn to anymore. The mayor and most of the councilours live around the area, and therefore it’s no excuse that they don’t see this filth.
