Is it just me or has anyone in the government happened to perchance notice the massive, recently ongoing and systematic decline in oil prices?
Currently, it is approximately half its purchase price (now $82 USD per barrel and falling fast), as opposed to a few months ago. Yet no reflection is shown against this price at our petrol pumps, nor any announcements made to advise the public of such a dramatic reduction in such. Perhaps someone in the government may enlighten us all as to why the exact same corresponding scenario protocol is not adopted to the amount we pay to fill up our vehicles whenever an increase in oil prices is announced, insomuch as a Gadarene rush to on-pass any price hike to consumers is initiated post-haste, with Air Malta still today slapping passengers with a fuel surcharge (shouldn’t passengers be getting a rebate on this, and one from the government for the illegal departure tax?).
Yet conversely, this like-minded policy is not applied whenever the scenario occurs of a reversal in the market prices of commodities? Perhaps as my Irish granny used to say the only thing we can rely upon to come down... is the rain!
