Don’t come begging for funds

On page 5 in the The Times, Friday 19 September under National News, one of the leading NGOs regarding tourism in Malta complained because of a lack of bookings for next winter.
This has become a litany of whingeing every season ending in a plea for a couple million euros for advertising from the taxpayers for good.
I recall one evening when we went to a popular spot in Valletta. It was a very hot, still daytime, and we needed a cool drink. None of the restaurants would serve us drinks. Their tables and chairs were for diners only. It was 8.30pm on Sunday. The place was deserted; no one wanted to eat in the heat, without a fan in sight.
Some of these places have air-conditioning but are scared to use it in summer!
Mind you, their prices are top dollar, but customer care is not on the menu.
The place should have been jammed, but was a sad and sorry sight.
