Crash Test Dummies

On 21 July 2008, I submitted an application for the Diploma in Facilitating Inclusive Education course with the University of Malta.
The selection process involved an aptitude test, but no one knew when it was going to be held. When I received a letter on 22 August informing me of the test date, I was abroad and I would have still been away on the test date (1 September). Apart from the fact that 10 days are very short notice, the most disappointing thing was the Department of Psychology’s arrogant behaviour towards my problem.
I was asked to send an email to address my problem, but when I called to check whether the email was received, as after three days I was still without a reply, I was informed that the person concerned was actually on leave till 28 August.
I feel this is unfair and I should have been given the opportunity to sit for the test as the situation was beyond my control. A more polite and reasonable answer could have been sent to my complaint, rather than that I should not have booked my flight before I knew the test date.
Definitely if the department was efficient enough to inform me of the test date when I submitted the application, I would have rescheduled my holiday and not paid the €23.29 fee for nothing.
