May I refer to M. Farrugia’s unfair comments in the 3 August issue of MaltaToday, regarding us film critics.
I have been one for at least the last 35 years for a local Maltese daily, and so may be the most senior amongst those attending KRS screenings regularly.
During all these years I have always written what I felt about films distributed by the said company, and so, in more than one instance, I found myself in disagreement, and had my friend Eric German’s same problems with said distributors.
I never expected the support of my colleagues because I know that there always was the chance that they would not get their papers’ backing. As a matter of fact I have to disagree with Farrugia (who honestly I cannot remember attending) because there has never been any sort of boycott by us critics against KRS, at least in all these years I have been attending.
What I expected, and always got, was my paper’s editor and proprietors’ support, which I always got.
So there is no place for the arrogant and vulgar remarks Farrugia used in our regards, and which prompted me to write in the first place.
