Meat is murder

I would like to thank MaltaToday for bringing into the open the animal cruelty involved in the meat industry. Unfortunately, the pitiful horse story depicted in last Sunday's Malta today is just one example of the fate that millions of animals pass through every day just for the sake of people’s meat eating lifestyles.
The public seems to need more realistic and graphic stories of this kind to awaken from the illusory world of refined meat eating, as the industry takes great pains to hide its dark secrets from its consumers, and alienate the public from the fact that what’s on one's plate was once a live sentient being. In fact, as aptly stated by Oscar Wilde "if slaughterhouses were glasshouses everyone would turn vegetarian".
In view of this, please allow me to express my aversion to the often frivolous and insensate comments made as regards meat eating in 'Mona’s Meals’ column in MaltaToday.
