The Attorney General’s office confirmed last week that Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani Grima had not yet submitted her concluded inquiry into the death of Borg, who was killed by five bullets, all fired from point blank range.
The man, who suffered from a mental illness, died after receiving with a bullet in the forehead, another in the shoulder and three in the chest as he went on the rampage in Qormi, days after his family had warned the psychiatric hospital and the police of his deteriorating mental condition.
Meanwhile MaltaToday is informed that the two police officers who interrogated Nicholas Azzopardi at the Floriana Depot – where the deceased sustained the injuries from which he would die 13 days later – are Reuben Zammit and Adrian Lia.
Azzopardi’s relatives are now exploring their legal rights to get the court to hear important witnesses into the death of Nicholas. They are also examining the possibility of exhuming the body and ordering a new post-mortem report.
