Reference is herewith made to the photograph and caption accompanying MaltaToday’s article dated 6 September 2009 (‘How Academic fraud came to Malta – the EIE Case’) signed by Hon. Evarist Bartolo.
It is not the intention to delve deeper into the matter of Mr Cappitta’s and EIE’s credentials as we are informed that the author and yourself have been sued for libel for what were considered to be defamatory remarks.
However it is to be pointed out that Hon. Clyde Puli, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth and Sport, presence during that particular event, in actual effect was only intended to endorse the launch of a new youth group called YEL (Young Entrepreneurs and Leaders).
As such your photograph and the caption underneath have been used out of context and as a consequence portrayed an unfair picture of reality.
Simon Vella Gregory
Communications Coordinator,
Parliamentary Secretary for
Youth and Sport
Editorial Note – Clyde Puli, as junior minister in the Education Ministry, was represented in the photograph with EIE director Antonello Cappitta to depict the government’s endorsement of this educational institution, while highlighting the fact that Mr Cappitta is part of the PN focus group on higher education. The photo illustrated a pertinent point raised by the writer.
