Europe must take us seriously It would be nice if the government could clearly indicate to us what its strategy is to tackle the ever worsening issue of illegal immigration. One day we hear that the issue with Italy was so small that it was resolved by a phone call, and on the next, we learn that the Italians sort of fooled us into taking more immigrants, when actually it was their responsibility to do so. This matter is growing into something which cannot be handled as if we were playing a computer game. Unless Lawrence Gonzi shows he has the spine to do what it takes to be taken seriously by the rest of Europe, he is going to completely lose control over the situation, unless he already has already lost it.
