Anime Del Terre
Exhibition of ceramic sculptures by Paul Vella Critien at the Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, Palazzo De La Salle, 219 Republic Street, Valletta. The theme consists of a collection of over 20 ceramic works which were produced during the last 16 months. This is the twelfth solo art show that the artist has organized in Malta and Europe. In this particular exhibition, the exhibits will be varying in size with a mixture of contemporary compositions. The artist will be showing developed techniques in majolica, stoneware and engobe colours. This collection is based on the spirit and effects of planet earth, a combination to demonstrate his love and deep passionate belief in natural forms, colours and texture.

Exhibition by Adrian Scicluna at the Main Hall of St James Cavalier dealing with various aspects of local urbanization, using some popular games as metaphors.

Brikkuni + Chasing Pandora
The bands will be playing stripped-down versions of their songs in the intimate setting of Chiaroscuro, Strait Street, Valletta as well as a series of mutually-selected covers. Doors open at 21:30. Entrance is free.

Therapy?
Irish rock trio Therapy? will be performing at Sky Club, Paceville as part of their current tour, promoting their brand new album Crooked Timber. To any music aficionado,Therapy? will need no introduction. They are one of the few bands to successfully blend the alternative and metal genres, storming into people’s consciousness in the mid-1990’s with a string of explosive singles such as Screamager, Nowhere and Trigger Inside hitting the charts all across Europe. During that time, Therapy? was also nominated for ‘Best Rock Band’ in the MTV European Awards and Mercury Prize Awards and the band attracts a widespread and loyal following to this day. The concert is being organized in collaboration with Carlsberg Beer. Tickets will be available from the Urban Culture outlets in Sliema and Valletta. Bonnie Prince Billy
The critically acclaimed American singer-songwriter Will Oldham aka Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy will be in concert at MITP, St Christopher’s Street, Valletta, together with Brikkuni and Hunters Palace. Spring Awakening
The Tony-award winning musical gets the Maltese treatment at St James Cavalier (with an extended run). With book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik, the MADC production will be directed by Wesley Ellul and choreographed by Fiona Barthet. April 30
A Night with Francis Ebejer
The Department of English Students Association will be presenting a literary evening to commemorate the artistic achievements of Francis Ebejer at the Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, Palazzo de la Salle, Republic Street, Valletta. Ebejer, who wrote both in English and Maltese, also created pen and ink drawings, print copies of which will be exhibited on the night. The event will be starting at 19:30 and will feature readings from Ebejer’s plays and novels. There will also be short presentations by guest speakers. Entrance is free. A small reception will follow the event.

QUIZ NIGHT

Thursdays
Snoopy’s Pub Quiz
Quiz at Snoopy’s Bar and Restaurant, Sliema starts at 20:30. The format of the event follows a typical UK pub quiz format: each table booked is considered to be a team. Quiz packs containing 40 questions on different topics are given out to each team, who would in turn be given an hour’s time limit to fill in their answers. After the hour elapses, correct answers will be called out by the quizmaster, after which the winning table is announced. Winners receive a €20 discount off their bill. A free bottle of The Stump Jump (Australia), imported by Bicanter Wines, will be given to the winning table and runners up. Participation is set at €2 per person.
