MTV Mobile partners with GO for new mobile service

MTV Networks International’s Emerging Markets group has partnered exclusively with telecommunications company GO to launch the MTV Mobile brand in Malta.
MTV Mobile Malta is expected to launch its fully-fledged mobile services in the very near future, GO said in a statement yesterday.
Clearly targeting the youth segment that are avid followers of MTV and the lifestyle it promotes, the mobile brand will be offering a service with a difference and a number of exclusivities, GO said.
MTV Mobile will also be offering its customers the chance to experience exclusively a number of events and parties locally and abroad, as well as their own MTV Mobile ‘Powered by GO’ SIM card to give them access to exclusive music, video and Internet content.
Bhavneet Singh, the executive vice president of MTV’s emerging markets group said: “We’re really pleased to launch MTV Mobile in Malta with GO. Our aim is to continue rolling out the MTV brand across all available media platforms – both on and off-air – to ensure that fans can interact with their favourite brand whenever and wherever they want. The MTV brand already enjoys a strong youth following in Malta and we’re certain that GO, with their extensive expertise and knowledge of the Maltese communications landscape, will be the perfect partner to help us launch MTV into the digital space.”
The MTV Mobile brand is already present in various countries around the world including Italy, Germany, France, Spain, UK, US, Japan and Brazil.
GO chief operations officer Norbert Prihoda said: “ ‘It’s time to be you’ is the tagline to welcome MTV in the Maltese market. We want this brand to appeal to all the young at heart, who are creative, who want something different, at a good price, with exclusive content – and above all backed by the reliable service provided by GO.
“We look forward to launch this exciting brand. We look forward to give our customers the best level of service, very competitive call and SMS rates, coupled with all the exciting features that come with MTV Mobile.”
MTVNI’s Emerging Markets Group is one of the fastest growing regions in the company’s portfolio of multi-platform businesses. The group manages 30 television channels, 31 websites, two rich media websites and four mobile TV channels encompassing the MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, VIVA and Comedy Central and COLORS brands in Central & Eastern Europe, Russia, Africa, the Middle East and India. MTV Networks is owned by Viacom.
