Invitation to President’s swearing-in

Reference is made to the article ‘Labour Officials bumped off Presidential List’, which also appeared as a headliner in the first page of MaltaToday of April 5, 2009, with the title ‘Abela sworn in, officials blacklisted’, regarding the invitations issued for the swearing in ceremony of President George Abela. It should be clarified that, this ceremony being also a Parliamentary Sitting, the Office of the President was not in any way involved in anything to do with the issuance of invitations for this event. The facts, which do not at all reflect what was implied in said article, were published by the Department of Information through Press Release No. 0578, issued on the 6 April2009, and attached for ease of reference.
