Delimara versus the National Bank

Is it not ironic that with Dom Mintoff as Prime Minister the properties owned by the National Bank of Malta, which included the head office in Republic Street, Valletta, the Sliema branches at Tagliaferro Centre and the Strand, the Marsa branches at Bridge Wharf and Cross Roads, and the Gozo branch in Victoria, were valued by the Council of Administration for the audited accounts of the NBM at a total of only Lm295,000? In stark contrast Dom Mintoff was awarded Lm350,000 in compensation and still got to keep his property just for the building of a power station next to his country house in Delimara. Granted that in Delimara there is no Labour Party Club or band club which could have requisitioned his property.
