Reforming the presidency

In the wake of the forthcoming election by Parliament of our Eight President of the Republic, I think the sovereign polity has every right to ask:
1) To what extent, if at all, should the powers and functions of the Presidency be constitutionally strengthened?
2) Will we ever move in the direction of having a President elected by the people?
3) Shall our Parliamentarians, in the future, strengthen the Office of the President by departing from election by mere resolution of the House of Representatives i.e. by a simple majority of those present and voting?
4) Should our MPs prefer the obtaining method of election, would it be possible to consider including a representation from out Local Councils to form part of the ‘Electoral College’ entrusted with electing the President?
