Censorship in the 21st century

In the light of this very serious and sad issue that is still taking place in the 21st century, I would dispute how Malta can be classified as a “functioning democracy” on the world democracy index, when showing contempt towards religious symbols in public is a criminal offence, let alone censoring plays “to shield the people from indecency”... so say the usual unelected hypocrites with hidden agendas.
What happened to the fundamental “human right” of freedom of speech and expression, or last but not least: freedom of/from belief? So an illegal immigrant is allowed to have every damn right (let’s bear in mind they are on Maltese soil illegally) but a Maltese citizen has to stand in line to this conservative censorship hypocrisy. What a pathetic republic: afraid to let its own citizens do their thinking for themselves!
Which brings into light another country which implies a similar philosophy of censorship against anything anti-religious: Iran. Anyone who lives in the world of realty knows how democratic Iran is to any Iranian who tries exercising his or her fundamental freedoms under the regime of theocracy.
That’s what the model of our state really is: a theocratic puppet state, cloaked as a parliamentary democracy.
