NCPE clarification on ‘discrimination’ against female lawyers

The National Commission for the Protection of Equality would like to clarify some points regarding reports on media on “discrimination” against female lawyers.
The main message conveyed to all journalists that contacted the Executive Director of NCPE conveyed a message that the inclusion of such a paragraph (Article 25 in legal notice 279 of 2008) is a reflection of a cultural mentality where stereotypes are perpetuated.
For the NCPE, it is more of a concern the fact that the said document speaks of “advocates” and “lady advocates”. In professional life, gender is irrelevant.
