Glenn Bedingfield protests PBS censorship

Newly elected Labour MEP Glenn Bedingfield has written a letter of protest to the PBS editorial board and the Broadcasting Authority, after his interview on Reporter was cancelled by the TV station.
The interview was scheduled to be broadcast yesterday before the 8pm news.
Bedingfield said the PBS was claiming it had no policy on candidates for the European Parliament, leading it to cancel the interview.
In his protest, Bedingfield wrote that the censorship of the interview was just an excuse, because the campaign for the European Parliament was still months away, and that the political parties had not announced their official candidates’ list.
Bedingfield said the editorial board’s decision to cancel the programme went against the right to freedom of expression.
The MEP demanded that the decision gets revoked and asked the BA to ensure the programme is broadcast as scheduled.
In a statement, Bedingfield said he had criticised the way government was treating patients who needed operations abroad, when waiting lists were increasing. He said government should use all public and private resources to reduce waiting lists.
He also said government had forced motorists to pay a double VAT on used car imports from the EU, and said the government should refund this money back.
