Nationalist MP Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando has personally applied to enclose his land in Mistra, a green area that was controversially earmarked for a disco, with a 1.2 metre high rubble wall with the intention of delineating his land from the surrounding uses.
“I want to delineate my land from the recording studio, wedding hall and restaurant which were approved by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority when audit officer Joe Falzon chaired the Development Control Commission,” an irked Pullicino Orlando told MaltaToday when asked about his latest application.
Pullicino Orlando was referring to the approval of a restaurant on an adjacent plot of land in 1994.
The permit for a disco on Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando’s plot of land was deemed illegal by the MEPA auditor and subsequently revoked by the MEPA board. A former director at the Malta Tourism Authority is charged with drawing a report to favour the application process for a permit for a disco on the MP’s land, leased to Tattingers disco owner Domenic Micallef.
Applications for the construction of rubble walls are normal business in MEPA and Pullicino Orlando made it clear he has no other intention apart from delineating the land.
