Blackboard bungle

Your article entitled ‘Blackboard Jungle’ in last Sunday’s edition of MaltaToday incorrectly quotes an Industrial Tribunal decision to state that æwhile a distinction was to be retained in terms of the work carried out by university lecturers on one hand and Junior College lecturers on the other, discussions on the collective agreement would be led by the MUT for both sides”.
This is incorrect. The tribunal decision places UMASA on a par with the MUT in all industrial discussions, of whatever nature, that are held with the University of Malta.
This has in fact been the case throughout all the discussions with the University on the new collective agreement, held over the past year and a half.
