Apology for the delay

Reference is made to Anna Mallia’s article “The water and electricity sage”, published in your newspaper on 24 September 2008.
Dr Mallia in her article talks about a new electricity service application. Enemalta Corporation installs around 6,000 new services per year, some are straightforward whilst others require more work as in the case of Dr Mallia’s relative.
Enemalta Corporation apologises for any inconvenience caused to this consumer but please allow me to point out that this particular case required the erection of an electricity pole as the premises were 38 metres away from the nearest electricity cable whilst Enemalta personnel had to extend the lines to make the necessary connections and supply electricity.
The application was submitted on 2 September and electricity was supplied on the 16 September. Even though there have been some setbacks, personnel managed to supply electricity on the 23 September, three weeks after the application had been submitted even though this was not a clear-cut case.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind consumers to contact Enemalta’s customer care contact centre in case of any difficulty on telephone number 80072224
