Welcoming migrants

With reference to the letter ‘Migrants welcome’ (Letters, 31 August), Mr Philip Micallef strikes me as an intolerant chap who cannot stand a different opinion to his own with the result that he brands such differences as “hate” letters.
He regaled us with a tirade of narratives regarding performances and behaviour of immigrants in our country. I never contested these in my correspondence – so please he could have spared us his sermons.
I had the guts to publicly forward my opinion for a solution for what it is worth. However the sense of anger and frustration throughout his letter blinded him to the extent that he is unable to perceive the immigration problem that Malta is facing. This made him miss the point dominant in my letter. Grow up, Mr Micallef and admit that this constant influx of illegals in our country is a paramount problem which begs the absolute need of an immediate solution.
He speaks of change – change from what, pray? By welcoming illegal visitors to enable us to come out of our sheltered existence as he put it and thus move on to evolution? Maybe, we stupid fools, are not aware that we are experiencing the age of enlightenment towards the evolution he spoke of; by being lumbered with illegal immigrants breeding without control! How ridiculous can he be?
Maybe this VIP with a chip on his shoulder really needed a break from all that he indicated is irking him in Malta – after which who knows, he might bring with his re-entry the key to Malta’s ails and tribulations.
In conclusion I have no intention of entering into polemics so I advise him to desist from answering me as anyway I would simply ignore his contribution.
