Anglu Farrugia presents new vote-buying report

Labour deputy leadership contender Anglu Farrugia, yesterday held a press conference in which he revealed he had handed the police a second report on irregularities during voting at the general election.
Farrugia had alleged right after the 8 March general elections that vote-buying had taken place prior to the election.
Farrugia alleged that an organised criminal racket was involved in the buying of votes of Labour supporters, with anything between €1 million and €2 million divided among agents who use runners to buy the votes. He claimed runners visit bars frequented by drug addicts and people who are more interested in having some cash than voting.
Yesterday he said he had backed his allegations with a new report, and would also be presenting a third report. The new report contains declarations by people who were threatened into voting PN, including one who was warned she could lose her job.
He also presented the police with some 50 mobile phone pictures taken by people made to vote PN.
He also said free social housing was awarded in return for votes just days before the election.
Farrugia said he will submit his reports to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) for investigation.
