Hilarious Herrera
That Dr Jose’ Herrera needed PN Mayor Robert Musumeci to bail him out of the embarrassing situation of being labelled “anti-Alfred Sant” by Joe Debono Grech (15 April) it is a very hilarious situation indeed.
If I were Dr Herrera I would feel humiliated that someone from the other side decided to defend me against my own leader. I thought it was obvious that Dr Herrera would be against Dr Sant, particularly since he wanted to take the latter’s place as party leader.
On the other hand, I find it extremely hilarious that Dr Herrera would want to lead the Malta Labour Party. In my opinion, Dr Herrera does not have the political savvy to hold the position of leader. He may have a knack at playing judicial games, but he surely lacks the gravitas required to make a leader. The very fact that he is defended in public by a prominent, albeit second-division exponent of the other side, suffices to show Dr Herrera’s lack of political clout.
Actually, I would be sincerely surprised if Dr Herrera were made a parliamentary secretary, let alone a minister, in the forthcoming Labour government.

Edward Grech
