Qui-si-sana development

I refer to the article entitled ‘Beyond the Golden Mile.’ (MaltaToday, 19 December, 2004) in which Claire Bonello bases her arguments on the false, and repeatedly rebutted allegation that the Qui-si-Sana garden will not form part of the proposed development for the area.
Once again it must be stated that this is not true. The Qui-si-Sana proposed development brief was scrutinised through a transparent process that included a six week public consultation period. During this public consultation period, the proposed development brief was also sent to all residents in the Tignè peninsula for their comments. Copies of the development brief were also available from the Sliema Local Council, MEPA offices and website.
This development brief clearly proposes the increase in the footprint of the existing garden in such a way that the new garden space will also incorporate the spaces that are currently used as a car park on both sides of the present garden, thus increasing the garden area by almost 1,800 square metres. Far from the garden ceasing to exist, the proposal is for the garden space to get bigger.
Ms Bonello should also be aware that Government will ensure that MEPA follows the approved development brief conditions when assessing and deciding on the project. Government will not accept anything which goes against the approved development brief.
