Following a hefty investment of Lm4 million, Continental Cars Ltd. has launched its new and improved premises, which are up to Volkswagen standard - known to be top notch in both quality and aesthetics. The new premises will host a magnificent Volkswagen showroom which is going to be one of the largest on the island and will also incorporate a new after sales and administration area, workshop and also parts warehouse.
Apart from its appealing appearance, the new premises will be conducive to an improved and more efficient service that Volkswagen clients rightly expect. The new premise is has a total area of 5,000 square meters over four floors.
The new Volkswagen showroom is able to hold between 10 to 14 cars and is up to Volkswagen’s standards, which surpasses local and foreign requirements alike. The aesthetics of the new showroom are in line with the philosophy of Volkswagen international, exactly why all VW showrooms around the world look exactly the same.
The Continental Cars workshop has a throughput of 150 cars per week, which adds up to 7500 cars a year. All this work is left in the hands of 14 mechanics and technicians. Continental Cars has now an additional six work bays, new special tools which have just been purchased at a cost of Lm15,000 to assist our workers perform a quality job. The workshop is now equipped with a state of the art exhaust and extraction system.
The new workshop enables Continental Cars to offer their customers the Express Service, “Stop & Go”. With the introduction of Express Service Continental Cars can now offer their clients a quick and efficient service at their convenience.
The warehouse has increased to an area of 1,000 square metres, of which 600 are fully utilised across two floors. The old stores were on three floors, and as such there is a difference in the accessibility to the parts. The parts area now consists of only two areas which allows a much easier and more efficient job.
Continental Cars has, in store, 13,000 line items which is around Lm300,000 worth of parts. There is a circulation of nearly 4,500 items a month, between Service and front counter customers.
While this constitutes phase one of the project, phase two is expected to kick off begin at the beginning of next year when the old Volkswagen and Audi showrooms will be demolished and excavated to build new Audi and Porsche showrooms.
Phase two will consist of a new, up to standard Audi and Porsche showrooms, a new workshop for VW comprising double the amount of working bays to offer a better service for the customers also with a customer car park. Phase two is going to have a total area of 6,000 square meters over four floors.
Once both phases are ready, total area will be that of 11,000 square meters over four floors, which will incorporate three separate showrooms, two after sales centres, customer parking facilities and the administration block.
